Our next meeting date will be on Sunday, Sept 21. We will meet in the side room at Wendy's on Mountain View Road. The board will meet at 5:00. General Membership will meet at 6:00. We hope to see you all there!

Membership Dues are Due

Please get your membership, liability and committee forms filled out for the upcoming year. The 2014-2015 appplication is available on the website for download. You can fill them out and bring them to the meeting, or you can mail them to:

Membership fees remain the same for this year; $25 for single members and $40 for families.  Remember you can pay your dues at meetings with your credit or debit cards.

Hospitality Chairman Position Open

Josh Snyder has had to resign as hospitality manager.  Anyone who is interested in the position can submit a letter of intent to the board at rapidcityrushboosterclub@gmail.com before our next meeting on the 21st.


Apartments Need Furnishing

It's about that time!  Players start returning this week, and we just found out Monday that the first apartments need to be set up by Thursday!  We need need air fresheners, pump soaps, toilet paper, paper towels, napkins, dishwasher pods, washing machine pods, and trash bags.  If you would like to donate items please contact Marvina at 430-4513.  You can also bring items to the next meeting on the 21st; we will need more supplies as more players start returning for camp.

Comings and Goings

It seems like the CHL has been fairly upended in the last several weeks.  With the Denver Cutthroats and the Arizona Sundogs suspending operations and the St. Charles Chill shuttering permanently, the remaining seven teams are left with a surplus of talent.  The Rush have re-signed defensemen Riley Weselowski and Bobby Preece, and signed veteran defensemen Daniel Tetrault from Allen and Steve Kaunisto from Denver.  Also attending Rush camp is rookie defenseman Reid Campbell.  On the forward side, the Rush have signed Johan Ryd from Arizona, JP Chabot and Daniel Barczuk from Denver, and ECHL forwards Jake Hauswirth and Adam Stuart.  They've also signed rookies Mike McCann and Patrick Divjak.  And the Rush have also welcomed back goalie Danny Battachio from his year overseas in Kazakhstan.

Of course with so many players returning or coming to the Hills for the first time, there will always be some who will find their way elsewhere.  Tristin Llewellyn and Anthony Perdicaro have both signed with the Gwinnett Gladiators in the ECHL.  Kevin Harvey is headed for Indiana and the Evansville Icemen.  Although he has yet to announce a new team, Tim Boron has left as well.  And Konrad Reeder has announced his retirement from professional hockey.  We wish them all the best and we will miss them!


Training Camp Breakfast

We will be providing breakfast for training camp again this year.  We're not 100% sure of the starting date yet; it will either be the week of October 6th or 13th.  We are in need of the following:  Bagels, especially Everything and Pumpkin Spice, flavored cream cheese, jam/jelly, bread, English muffins, soft margarine, instant oatmeal, chocolate and white milk, orange juice, coffee, filters, sugar, creamers, yogurt, and fruit (apples, oranges, bananas). 
Rummage Sale

A very big thank you to everyone who helped out with the annual rummage sale back in July; we raised just over $600, one of our best sales ever!

Next Meeting

Our next general meeting is Sunday, September 21st, at the Wendy's on Mountain View Rd at 6:00pm.  If you have suggestions for fundraisers, what to sell at the table, and what to do for the holiday party, we'd love to hear them!

Rummage Sale is Saturday!

 

Our rummage sale is THIS SATURDAY, July 26th from 7:00 am to Noon.  Location is 1200 Range View Circle in the Fox Meadow Subdivision off Minnesota St.

We will be setting up and pricing items Thursday and Friday from 6:00 pm - 9:30 pm.  WE REALLY NEED SOME HELP WITH THIS. Even if you can only be there for an hour or so, it's a big help!

We will also need help with tear down/clean up after Noon on Saturday.  The Salvation Army is coming to pick up whatever we don't sell, so it will need to be boxed up; we will also have to put all the tables away.  Again, we REALLY need some help here; Stevie has a big radio event she has to be at that afternoon, so she cannot stay for clean-up.

If you have items to donate, please let Stevie know at 430-5482 or just stop by the rummage sale location and drop them off.

If you haven't already renewed your membership, or have never been a member but would like to sign up, you may do so at our next meeting.  Don't forget--you can also pay with your credit/debit card at meetings!


Next Meeting


Our next general meeting is August 24th, 5pm at the Rushmore Media studios, 660 Flormann St.  (Behind the Safeway on Mt. Rushmore Rd.)  We'll be talking about some of our upcoming fundraisers for the season, and (hopefully) what the Rush office would like to see us focus on.  We'll send out more details as we get closer to our meeting date.

 

Comings and Goings
So far, the Rush have re-signed Winston Day Chief, Justin Sawyer, Jared Brown, Justin Faryna, Scott Brannon, Brett Kostolansky and Sean Erickson.  We also have one "newbie" to announce--the Rush have signed defenseman Brandon Martell from the Kalamazoo Wings in the ECHL.

The Rush have also brought back goalie Wayne Savage, who joined the team late last season.  This may bring about an interesting showdown between two of the best goalies in the CHL.  Because we not only have Tim Boron, who had the best GAA in the league last season, but we also have Danny Battochio, who has returned from his year in Russia.  Sadly, we can't sign them both.  It will be interesting to see how it plays out.  Regardless of who we sign, the other would be sorely missed--and someone we definitely wouldn't want to play against!

Forward Kyle Stroh has signed with the Florida Everblades in the ECHL.  His presence on our front line will be missed, but the Everblades are affiliated with both the NHL's Carolina Hurricanes and Tampa Bay Lightning, so who knows--maybe we'll see him on the NHL network someday, and we'll be able to say we knew him when!

First signing announcement!

The Rapid City Rush kick off the 2014-2015 roster announcements with the first signing of the year.  Follow the Rush announcements at their Facebook, Twitter, and Web pages as well as their iPhone and Android apps.  Hockey is just 4 months away, and the first step is announced tomorrow, June 17th at 1:30!!  Let's Go Rush!

On June 1st, general membership voted on the 2014-15 board representatives.  Thank you to all who submitted letters of intent. Without active members, this club would not be voted "BEST BOOSTER CLUB IN THE CHL" 2 years in a row!!  Our 2014-15 RUSH CREW BOARD MEMBERS are:

2014-2015 Election Ballot and Meeting Notice - June 1st, 2014

It is that time of year to elect our 2014-2015 board.  The ballot being presented was reviewed by the Nominating Committee in preparation for the elections to be held on June 1st, at 3:00 in the afternoon at New Rushmore Radio (behind Safeway on Mt. Rushmore Road).

All members that submitted letters of intent for positions were reviewed by the committee and found to be in good standing and eligible for the position for which they are seeking election.  Members- please review the ballot prior to the meeting.  See you on June 1st to submit your votes!

Upcoming 2014 Elections - Nominating Committee Taking Names Now

The General Membership will be meeting in May and will discuss our successful 2013-2014 season, our upcoming rummage sale, the nominations of new officers, and other business.  Stay tuned for date, time, and location!

For those of you interested in being involved as a director or Officer on the Booster Club, please email your letters of intent to Rachel at thequimby3@gmail.com.  Now is the time to submit those letters of intent if you would like to be considered for a position.   Elections will be held in late May, so if you are a current officer, be sure to notify us if you would like to maintain your role or change your role.  If you want to run for the first time, here are a list of the current officers and the committees and their duties.  Each of the Director Positions as well as the President, Treasurer, and Secretary officers will need to be filled.  We came together very strongly this last year and have a solid group.   We would like to receive the letters of intent by 30 April at midnight!  Again, letters can be emailed to Rachel at thequimby3@gmail.com.  We encourage everyone to get involved with the CHL's Booster Club of the Year for two consecutive years - you won't regret it!
